Summary Federal Minister Amir Muqam criticised KP’s governance and security situation, saying the province was facing worsening conditions while opposing governor’s rule as a political option

GILGIT (Dunya News) — Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Amir Muqam has criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government over the province’s security and governance situation, saying there is effectively no government in KP and that governor’s rule would not be a politically favourable decision.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Zahid Khan and Samar Bilour, Amir Muqam said the federal government did not want to reach a point where it had to take an extreme step regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said governor’s rule was not politically a good decision, adding that the government did not want to go to the last resort.

Muqam said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been left unattended while the chief minister was working on a one-point agenda. He claimed that the situation in the province was tense and that the chief minister was busy participating in protests.

He said the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was deteriorating day by day, while the chief minister had been travelling between Lahore and Sindh for the past two months.

The federal minister said terrorism was taking place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that the province was “burning”, leaving people unable to move freely. He said residents were facing difficulties and carrying the bodies of their loved ones, stressing that there should be unity on the issue of terrorism.

Muqam also alleged that corruption was at its peak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and claimed that the chief minister was not fulfilling his responsibilities. He described the province as currently being without proper governance and said the KP government should realise the problems being faced by the people.

His remarks come amid heightened political and security tensions between the federal and KP governments, with governor’s rule having been discussed as one of the constitutional options amid concerns over law and order and the ongoing political confrontation.
