ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister’s Coordinator Ikhtiar Wali has accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of creating political unrest and using what he described as the ‘Pashtun card’ to spread propaganda, saying the state cannot be held hostage.

Speaking about the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Wali claimed that thousands of terrorist incidents had occurred in the province over the past two years.

He also said the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in KP was facing a shortage of weapons.

Meanwhile, Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry said the government remained committed to its policy of reconciliation and had sought to resolve political differences with the opposition through negotiations.

Chaudhry alleged that PTI had deliberately undermined the talks and was attempting to mislead the public about the government’s position. He further claimed that PTI’s priorities did not include addressing the deaths of its supporters.

Referring to the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chaudhry said the province’s challenges were visible to the public and alleged that corruption had remained a major issue in KP for the past 15 years.

The statements come amid continued political tensions between the government and PTI, with both sides maintaining differing positions over negotiations, governance and the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
