GILGIT (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Army has completed a 66-kilometre road track between Astore and Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, overcoming challenging terrain in a short period.

The newly completed route has significantly reduced travel time between the two areas, bringing the journey down to just a few hours.

The Shagma Astore-Mantho Skardu road track will facilitate transportation between Astore and Skardu and improve connectivity for local communities.

The project has also restored direct connectivity between eight villages in the Phothaks Valley of Gultari and their district headquarters.

The new road is expected to boost local trade, agriculture and livestock transportation between Astore and Skardu while reducing travel time between the two areas.

The project is part of the Pakistan Army's construction efforts aimed at supporting social and economic development alongside its defence responsibilities.
