Summary Salik claimed that he regularly heard complaints of corruption in Punjab and alleged that a disproportionate share of the province’s development budget was being spent in Lahore
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced plans to send a defamation notice to Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain, challenging him to provide evidence for his allegations or face legal action.
Her remarks came after Chaudhry Salik Hussain took a swipe at the Punjab government, alleging that political considerations were influencing development priorities and the allocation of public funds.
Salik claimed that he regularly heard complaints of corruption in Punjab and alleged that a disproportionate share of the province’s development budget was being spent in Lahore, while districts such as Gujrat were being sidelined because government-backed candidates had lost elections there.
“If you cannot prove corruption, I will drag you to court,” Maryam Nawaz said, responding to criticism of her administration during the CM Honhaar Scholarships and Laptop Distribution ceremony for students of Rawalpindi Division at COMSATS University Attock.
The Punjab chief minister further said the matter was not about corruption and challenged the federal minister to present evidence if he had any allegations against her.
She added that individuals appointed through political recommendations often damaged the country and harmed public interests.
