RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) - During a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 clash at National Bank Stadium on Thursday, Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah suffered an injury scare while fielding for Rawalpindiz against Islamabad United.

The incident took place in the 16th over of Islamabad United’s innings when Faheem Ashraf played a sweep shot off Saad Masood’s delivery towards deep backward square leg. Naseem attempted a diving stop to save runs but appeared to injure himself during the effort.

He was seen in visible pain, clutching his left leg while receiving on-field medical attention. Due to the severity of the discomfort, he was eventually carried off the field, raising concerns among teammates and fans.

Later, Rawalpindiz confirmed that the 23-year-old fast bowler had sustained a left knee injury. The team’s medical staff is currently assessing the extent of the damage, with further updates expected in due course.

“Naseem Shah is out of the field due to a knee injury sustained while fielding. The medical team is evaluating his condition, and more details will be shared soon,” the franchise said in a statement.

The development comes shortly after Naseem’s return to action following a side strain injury he had picked up earlier in the tournament during a match against Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium on April 2. That injury had temporarily sidelined him, prompting the team to include all-rounder Mubasir Khan as a replacement option.

This latest setback adds to Rawalpindiz’s injury concerns, as the team is already without the services of pacer Zaman Khan, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury sustained during the National T20 Cup.

Naseem’s fitness will now be closely monitored, as his availability could prove crucial for Rawalpindiz in the remainder of the tournament.
