Summary Shaheen Afridi says Pakistan targets ICC Test Championship final, acknowledges challenges, stresses improved Test performance ahead of Bangladesh series.

DHAKA (Dunya News) - Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said the team is targeting a place in the ICC World Test Championship final.

Speaking at a press conference in Dhaka ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh, Afridi said it is not easy to play a Test series after a long break.

He said the team has put the past behind and is fully prepared for the challenge, adding that reaching the ICC Test Championship final remains their primary goal.

Afridi said the team will try to deliver its best performance regardless of pitch conditions, noting that on green pitches, bowlers like Mohammad Abbas and Khurram Shehzad could prove effective.

Responding to a question about the head coach, he said the team has played under his leadership before and he knows how to utilise players effectively.

He also acknowledged that Bangladesh has a strong bowling unit under coach Shane Tait, adding that their bowlers are in good form but expressed hope they will not perform well against Pakistan.

Afridi admitted that the team is not satisfied with its recent performances in Test cricket and stressed the need to focus more on the longer format.
