Summary Pakistan white-ball coach Mike Hesson dismissed criticism of spin-friendly home pitches, saying World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will require spin preparation

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has rejected criticism over the use of spin-friendly pitches in the home series against Australia.

Responding to concerns raised after the first match, Hesson said it is incorrect to assume that the upcoming World Cup will only be played on fast and bouncy wickets.

Some cricket analysts had questioned the pitch conditions, suggesting Pakistan should prepare on pace-friendly surfaces ahead of the tournament in South Africa.

However, Hesson dismissed this view, stating that not all pitches in South Africa are uniformly fast or bouncy.

He added that discussions about Pakistan preparing on spin-friendly surfaces being unsuitable for World Cup preparation are misleading.

The white-ball head coach further noted that the 2027 World Cup will not only be held in South Africa but also in Zimbabwe and Namibia, where spin bowling is expected to play an important role, making such conditions relevant for Pakistan’s preparation.
