Summary Sri Lanka have named a 16-member ODI squad for the Pakistan-hosted tri-series against Pakistan and England, with Kusal Mendis appointed captain.
COLOMBO (Dunya News) – Sri Lanka have announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series against Pakistan and England, with Kusal Mendis appointed captain.
The squad sees the return of opening batter Avishka Fernando, who will play his first ODI since February 2025. Fernando earned his recall after an impressive run in domestic cricket, scoring two centuries in his last three matches, including a best score of 160.
He was included in place of Charith Asalanka and is currently the leading run-scorer in the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament, with 447 runs.
Kusal Mendis will lead the side, while Sri Lanka have yet to announce a vice-captain. The squad has otherwise remained largely unchanged following Sri Lanka’s 3-0 ODI series defeat against England.
Sahan Arachchige, who was brought into the England ODI squad as a replacement for the injured Wanindu Hasaranga, has also retained his place.
The tri-series will begin on Oct. 18 with Pakistan taking on Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. The final is scheduled to be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Oct. 31.
