(Web Desk) - Japan has introduced a novel cooling unit designed to provide rapid relief from extreme heat, as rising global temperatures and increasingly severe heatwaves continue to pose challenges worldwide.
Developed jointly by a Japanese company and an industrial equipment manufacturer, the system uses powerful blasts of cold air to rapidly cool the human body.
Standing around seven feet tall and 3.9 feet wide, the unit resembles a large vending machine or refrigerator. According to the company, spending around 10 minutes inside the cooling chamber can significantly reduce symptoms of heat exhaustion.
The interior temperature is maintained at around 15 degrees Celsius, while air cooled to approximately 5 degrees Celsius is directed towards the user's head, neck, shoulders and back.

The company claims the device is the world's first system designed to cool the entire body simultaneously and can lower body temperature more quickly than conventional air conditioning.
Despite its energy efficiency, the unit reportedly costs around 16 yen per hour to operate. However, the price of a single machine is approximately 1.5 million Japanese yen, equivalent to more than $10,000.
