Inflation rises by 0.27pc week ahead of Ramazan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Inflation continues to rise in the country, with prices increasing ahead of the holy month of Ramazan. 

According to the latest weekly report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the weekly inflation rate has surged by 0.27 per cent, while the annual inflation rate stands at 1.21 per cent. 

The report highlights that prices of 11 essential items have increased, while 16 have witnessed a decline. 

The prices of 24 commodities remained stable during the week. 

Notably, a price hike was observed in eggs, chicken, garlic and sugar. 

On the other hand, a decrease was recorded in the prices of tomatoes, chickpea lentils, onions and mash lentils.

As Ramazan approaches, rising inflation is a growing concern for consumers, especially those struggling with the increasing cost of living. 

Economists suggest that further price fluctuations may occur in coming weeks due to higher demand during the fasting month.
