KARACHI (Dunya News) – Oil and gas reserves have been discovered in North Waziristan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Mari Energies, which began drilling on May 28, 2024, said in a statement that new oil and gas reserves have been discovered in the Waziristan block.

It said 12.96 million cubic feet of gas along with 20 barrels of crude oil per day would be produced from Spinwam well one.

The company holds a 55% stake in the Waziristan block, with Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) and Oil and Gas Investment Limited (OPI) as joint venture partners.

Mari Petroleum stated that this new discovery would play a crucial role in enhancing the country’s hydrocarbon resources. The company is committed to further exploration and discovery of new hydrocarbon resources, it added.

The company also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of security agencies, as well as federal and provincial governments.

It may be recalled that the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) announced in 2024 the discovery of new oil and gas reserves in the Shah Bandar block located in the Sujawal district of Sindh.
