Pakistan's economy continues to stabilise, says Aurangzeb

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said national economy continued to make headways as economic indicators are showing positive trend.

Talking to Dunya News, the minister said currency was stable while inflation rate continued to drop amid improving foreign exchange reserves. He said they had put their heads together to bring stability in economy.

He said that proposals were under consideration to improve the economy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that he was visiting the provinces for holding consultations before the upcoming budget for fiscal year 2025-26.

The finance minister said Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was being re-launched, adding that European routes had reopened, and UK routes would be opened soon as well.

Aurangzeb said he also met the US President Donald Trump’s advisors on digital assets, adding that the government would consider establishing a National Crypto Council, which will serve as a dedicated advisory body comprising key government representatives, regulatory authorities, and industry experts.

He said there are over 20 million active users in the digital asset market with investment reaching up to $25 billion. He said there is an urgent need to regulate it as this sector has attracted massive investment.

The minister said an IMF technical mission has arrived in Pakistan to look into climate-related funds.

He revealed that an IMF delegation will arrive next month for a six-month review under the loan deal, and hoped that it will go well.

Aurangzeb further explained that implementing the IMF conditions would bring improvements in the country.
