Summary Gas crisis worsens in Pakistan as RLNG supply disruption suspends new domestic connections, leaving thousands pending; officials say process will resume after supply improves

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The gas crisis across the country has intensified as disruption in Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) supply has led to the suspension of new domestic gas connections.

According to sources, the processing of previously submitted applications has also been postponed.

The issuance of connections for applicants who had submitted urgent vouchers and demand notices has also been halted, leaving thousands of new connections pending.

It is worth mentioning that after a ban of several years, the process of issuing new gas connections had resumed only a few months ago, during which hundreds of connections were already installed before the current crisis emerged.

Officials said that due to the shortage of gas, consumers across the country are already being supplied gas for limited hours.

Senior General Manager Sui Northern, Imran Yousaf, stated that new connections have been temporarily stopped due to the suspension of RLNG supply.

He added that once the gas supply situation improves, the process of issuing connections will be resumed immediately.
