ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari said that the electricity subsidy for consumers using up to 200 units per month will continue.
Speaking to media in Islamabad, Leghari said that consumers using less than 200 units are currently receiving subsidies, with a specific amount being incorporated into their electricity bills under the subsidy program.
He noted that the number of consumers using up to 200 units has now exceeded 20 million.
Beneficiaries of the subsidy can scan the QR code printed on their electricity bills, and efforts are underway to connect all consumers through the QR code system.
The minister emphasized that the government will continue providing subsidies to deserving consumers.

He added that electricity-related issues are often politicized, with statements being made merely to attract public applause.
Leghari said that electricity prices have declined over the past two years and that the government has reduced circular debt by Rs780 billion.
He further stated that electricity meters have been linked to the national identity cards of 2 million individuals.
According to the minister, reforms in the energy sector are yielding positive results.
Household electricity bills have been reduced by 16 percent, while bills for protected consumers have decreased by 32 percent.
