Aurangzeb seeks US support to strengthen Pakistan's economy in talks with Treasury chief

Summary Pakistan and the United States discussed strengthening economic ties, boosting investment, improving market access and advancing strategic cooperation during talks between their finance ministers.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan's Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with his US counterpart, Scott Bessent, to discuss strengthening Pakistan-US economic relations, increasing investment and promoting bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb briefed the US Treasury Secretary on the government's vision for achieving macroeconomic stability, sustainable economic growth and export-led development. He also highlighted the adverse impact of the regional situation on Pakistan's economy.

The finance minister stressed the importance of US support in improving Pakistan's access to international capital markets, increasing foreign exchange reserves and facilitating market access in line with efforts to enhance the country's sovereign credit rating.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding economic cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, encouraging greater US investment and ensuring progress on mutually beneficial strategic initiatives.
