Summary Pakistan plans to secure three LNG cargoes from Qatar in October amid Strait of Hormuz uncertainty, while officials prepare alternatives as QatarEnergy’s force majeure extends to November 4.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan has decided to secure three LNG cargoes from Qatar during October as uncertainty grows over energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, according to sources.

The government is also preparing to approach Iranian authorities to help ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of the LNG cargoes and avoid potential disruptions along the maritime route, the sources said.

The development comes after QatarEnergy extended the force majeure period affecting LNG supplies to Pakistan until November 4.

Officials have also expressed concern that disruptions to energy supplies could continue into the winter season. In response, authorities are working on immediate and alternative measures to manage the potential gas supply shortfall, according to the sources.
