Bosch clarified to Pakistani officials that his decision was not meant to undermine PSL
LAHORE (Web Desk) - Corbin Bosch has officially explained his decision to withdraw from PSL 10 to Pakistani officials.
The South African all-rounder was set to play for Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming season but opted out of the tournament to join Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League instead.
With IPL scheduled from March 22 to May 25 and PSL from April 11 to May 18, the Pakistan Cricket Board had earlier announced that it would send a legal notice to Bosch through his agent for contract violation.
According to sources, Bosch clarified to Pakistani officials that his decision was not meant to undermine PSL. He stated that he had to prioritise his career and future prospects, and joining Mumbai Indians offered him long-term opportunities as the franchise is involved in multiple T20 leagues worldwide.
PCB would now assess Bosch’s explanation and determine the extent of his contract breach and the potential legal or disciplinary action against him.
Reactions to a possible ban have been mixed. Some officials believe Bosch should be banned from future PSL seasons to protect the league’s reputation and set an example. Others argue that a harsh penalty could deter foreign players from signing with PSL, and instead, a symbolic punishment might be a better approach. PCB’s final decision on the matter is still pending.
