HARARE (Dunya News) — Pakistan on Friday won the toss against England and chose to field in their opening match of the Under-19 World Cup.
England were 176 for the loss of three wickets in 36 overs when the last report came in.
Ali Raza drew the first blood when he sent back Joe Moores. The seamer bowled a good-length delivery to the England opener who edged the ball into wicketkeeper Hamza Zahoor's gloves.
Leg-spinner Ahmed Hussain dealt two early blows to England to put Pakistan in command. He dismissed Ben Dawkins (33) off a short delivery as skipper Farhan Yousaf took a superb diving catch at covers.
He then had Ben Mayes (20) caught by substitute Ali Hasan Baloch to leave England three down.
Caleb Falconer was dismissed for 66 when Zahoor took a catch off Raza. Ralphie Albert scored 25 and Thomas Rew 14.
Earlier after winning the toss, captain Farhan said that the team decided to bowl first after assessing the conditions.
Playing the tri-series here in build up to the mega event helped them understand the conditions better, he added.
The English captain said that his team has high confidence after winning both warm-up games.
He also mentioned that England has two spinners in their lineup.
