COLOMBO (Dunya News) - New Zealand on Wednesday set a target of 169 runs against Sri Lanka in the Super Eight stage match of ICC T20 World Cup.

Playing the 46th match of the tournament at Colombo after being invited to bat first by Sri Lanka, New Zealand posted 168 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Captain Mitchell Santner led from the front with a solid 47-run knock, anchoring the innings at a crucial stage.

Cole McConchie provided valuable support with an unbeaten 31, ensuring the Black Caps finished strongly.

Earlier, Rachin Ravindra contributed 32 runs, while Finn Allen added 23 at the top of the order.

Glenn Phillips chipped in with 18 runs, but the middle order struggled to fully capitalize.

Tim Seifert managed 8, Daryl Mitchell scored 3, and Mark Chapman was dismissed without scoring.

For Sri Lanka, the bowling effort was spearheaded by Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera, who claimed three wickets each to keep the Kiwi batting line-up in check.

Dunith Wellalage picked up one wicket.
