LAHORE (APP) - The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Punjab has arrested two individuals allegedly involved in spreading provocative and misleading content against state institutions through social media platforms.

The spokesperson said that accused Faqeer Muhammad was arrested from Faisal Town, Lahore, in connection with FIR No. 115/2026. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession and taken into custody for forensic examination and further investigation.
In a separate action, Muhammad Maqsood was arrested in Multan in connection with FIR No. 89/2026. The spokesperson said that a mobile phone and evidence linked to a Facebook account were recovered from the suspect.
According to the agency, both accused were allegedly involved in sharing videos and posts on social media targeting state institutions. The spokesperson said such content had the potential to create uncertainty and distress among the public.
Further investigation into both cases is underway, and legal proceedings are being pursued in light of the available evidence.
Punjab NCCIA Director Muhammad Ali Waseem said that indiscriminate action would continue against individuals involved in violations of cyber laws and unlawful activities targeting state institutions.
He said misuse of social media, dissemination of misleading content and attempts to create public disorder would not be tolerated, adding that those found involved would face strict legal action in accordance with the law.
