(Dunya News) - Veteran Indian actor Vishwanath ‘Nana’ Patekar has passed away at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Goa residence, as per Indian media reports.

According to reports, Patekar was rushed to a hospital in Goa early Thursday after being found unconscious, where doctors confirmed his death.

The actor reportedly experienced severe chest pain at his flat in Goa. His son, Malhar Patekar, said a medical team was called to the residence after the actor complained of intense chest pain, but he was already unconscious when they arrived.

He was subsequently taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at around 5:20am, according to his son.

Patekar, whose real name was Vishwanath Patekar, was regarded as one of the most respected actors in Hindi and Marathi cinema.

He began his film career in 1978 and went on to appear in numerous acclaimed and commercially successful films, including Parinda, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Ab Tak Chhappan and Welcome.
