LAHORE (APP) - Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Thursday said that the Punjab government has taken fundamental steps for the improvement of the nursing sector, adding that trained and experienced nurses from Punjab are in demand across the world.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education. During the meeting, both sides discussed the Punjab Nursing and Health Workforce Reform Project, while the ADB delegation also gave a detailed briefing on the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the nursing sector is the backbone of the healthcare system and the Punjab government is committed to strengthening it further. He thanked the Asian Development Bank for offering cooperation for the improvement of the nursing sector in Punjab.

Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood said that improvements are also being introduced in the nursing curriculum across Punjab, while effective measures are being taken for the capacity building of nursing faculty.
Members of the Asian Development Bank delegation assured full support for the improvement of the nursing sector in Punjab and expressed interest in promoting research in the field of nursing.
The Asian Development Bank delegation was led by Mission Leader Mr. Hiddo Hotzing and included Mr. Brian Chen, Fatima Arshad and Mansoor Ali.
