LAHORE (Dunya News) - The enforcement of Section 144 across the provincial capital, Lahore for six days has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Citizen Malik Najiallah has filed a miscellaneous application in the LHC making Punjab government and Lahore DC respondents.

The applicant contended that enforcement of Section 144 was unlawful and unconstitutional as the Constitution of Pakistan guaranteed the right of protest and public gathering.

The pleader requested the court to annul notification of Section 144 imposition in Lahore from October 3 to Oct 8.

It is pertinent to note that the Punjab Government has imposed Section 144 in Punjab including Lahore for six days.

All forms of political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations, and related activities will be prohibited under Section 144.

It is worth noting that Section 144 has also been imposed in state capital, Islamabad and all routes towards capital had been sealed placing containers ahead of PTI rally.
