MIANWALI (Dunya News) – Police claimed to have repulsed two terrorist attacks here on Saturday night, Dunya News reported.

According to Mianwali DPO Akhtar Farooq, police were tipped-off that ten to 12 terrorists were planning terror activities in Mullah Darbar Khasababa of Makarwal police jurisdiction.

When police scrambled to the area, the perpetrators opened fire on law enforcers. Police retaliated to their firing in a befitting manner and forced them to retreat, the DPO said.

The militants ran away towards the forest. Police pursued and again encountered them in the area with heavy exchange of fire, which lasted ten hours.

As a result of timely response by police, the terrorists escaped. After the encounter, police stepped up security in the city, with manhunt for the arrest of outlaws.

Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar praised the police for repelling the attacks and said law enforcers are alert to safeguard people from terrorist attacks.
