Says constitutional amendment does not represent the people of Pakistan
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Opposition leader in National Assembly Omar Ayub has said the 26th constitutional amendment is being passed for personal interests and it will slaughter democracy.
Speaking at National Assembly session, he questioned haste of calling the session, adding, “What would have happened if the amendment was approved on Oct 31.
“This constitutional amendment does not represent the people of Pakistan.”
Constitutional amendment is aimed at undermining independence of judiciary, the PTI leader said.
“Our members Mubarak Zeib, Zahoor Qureshi, Aurangzeb Khachi, Riaz Fatiana, Zain Qureshi and Adil Bazai were harassed and intimidated," he said and added that in this whole process our members were beaten and kidnapped, and brought in session.
“Zahoor Qureshi disappeared and was presented in the session. Our members who are sitting on government benches should join our ranks,” he said.
