KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for maintaining a continuous hold on Sindh’s government for the past 15 years, while political transitions have taken place in the other three provinces.

Speaking at a press conference alongside party leaders Farooq Sattar and Mustafa Kamal, Siddiqui remarked that Chief Minister Sindh and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto had recently invited traders for discussions. “We had hoped they would offer an apology, but their tone was nothing short of a threat,” he said.

Siddiqui accused the provincial government of disregarding the concerns of the business community. “They are troubled that traders have voiced their grievances elsewhere. But will they respond to these concerns? Karachi witnesses extortion demands daily, and those who refuse to comply face dire consequences,” he alleged.

The MQM leader further claimed that ties between PPP and Lyari gangsters were well known, adding that extortion had now become institutionalised. Without directly naming the Sindh government, he accused it of overseeing these criminal activities. “Even the city’s water is being sold at an official level,” he added.

He criticized the PPP’s policies, claiming that the party had introduced the quota system 50 years ago, yet had failed to address the struggles of farmers.

Highlighting the issue of fake domiciles, Siddiqui stated that MQM had provided evidence to the courts, alleging that an artificial majority was being used to rule Sindh. “Why didn’t Bilawal own street crimes and child abductions in his meeting with traders?” he questioned.
