KHAIRPUR (Dunya News) - At least 15 people were killed in two separate accidents in interior Sindh involving pilgrims who were on way to Sehwan Sharif to attend the Urs celebrations of Sufi saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
As many as 40 devotees sustained injuries in the tragic accidents.
According to police, nine pilgrims lost their lives in an accident near Ranipur.
The tragic incident took place at National Highway in Khairpur.
The rescue officials said that 30 passengers sustained injuries in the accident.
The police said that the bus was carrying pilgrims from Punjab who were on way to Sehwan Sharif to attend the Urs celebrations.
The accident took place due to the overspeeding, the police said.

In another incident, a van carrying pilgrims collided with a tractor-trailer in Nawabshah’s Qazi Ahmed Town.
According to police, the accident claimed six lives while 10 passengers suffered injuries. The deceased and injured were transported to the Qazi Ahmed Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
The officials said that the pilgrims had travelled to Nawabshah from Punjab and were travelling towards Sehwan Sharif for Urs celebrations.
Earlier, the Sindh government announced public holiday on the annual Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar across the province.
According to a notification issued by the Sindh government, there will be public holiday across the province on Feb 19.
A large number of devotees from across the country have already reached Sehwan Sharif to attend Urs celebrations.
