Petition against PECA seeks larger bench formation

Acting Chief Justice of IHC Sarfraz Dogar took up the plea
(Web Desk) - A petition filed in the IHC against PECA (Amendment) 2025 has requested for formation of a larger bench.
The plea filed by IHC Journalists Association (IHCJA). Newly elected IHCJA President Hussain Ahmed Chaudhry and General Secretary Raja Shehzad had challenged the amendments to Peca.
Acting Chief Justice of IHC Sarfraz Dogar took up the plea and clubbed the case in the court of Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas who also heard the similar case.
Justice Dogar said Justice Minhas would decide on the formation of larger bench before asking when would the court is likely to hear the case against the PECA.
The lawyer responded that the court postponed hearing for two weeks.
The petition filed against the PECA called its passage unconstitutional and illegal and an attack on journalist freedom.
