LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - The Lahore High Court's Bahawalpur Bench has started hearing of cases via video link on the directions of Chief Justice Aalia Neelum. 

On the introduction of information technology to the judicial system, Justice Aalia Neelum said that with the use of modern technology, overall judicial working will improve. She said the people living in far-flung areas could benefit from the initiative. 

“They don’t need to come to Lahore after covering a long distance for their cases as they can pursue their cases through video link”, the chief justice added. 

LHC Bahawalpur Bench's Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Muhammad Tariq took up pending cases of Rahim Yar Khan. 

The litigants and lawyers living in remote areas of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan lauded the LHC chief justice for launching court proceeding through video link.

Terming the initiative a milestone in judicial history, they said they would be able get justice at their doorsteps.

On the instructions of Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, SMS alert service has also started for the litigants to get attested copies of their cases. 

Speaking to Dunya News, legal expert Barrister Aslam Shaikh said Chief Justice Aalia Neelam was taking practical steps for the use of modern technology to ensure timely justice to people living in faraway areas. 

This initiative will save their time and reduce financial difficulties, he added. 

Chaudhry Naseer Kamboh said with the launch of video link, the chief justice had fulfilled the promise of ensuring timely justice. 

He said policies of the chief justice should continue, adding with her vision, perpetual demands of lawyers and civilians had been met and they would be able to get justice in time.
