PTI leader has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Alia Hamza has expressed lack of confidence on the performance of election tribunal in the matter pertaining to rigging in 2024 polls.
PTI leader has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court. She said in the plea that the election tribunal in her constituency should be changed due to the rigging issue.
She said despite the LHC order, the election tribunal has not sought election result from Hamza Shehbaz’s lawyer and returning officer. The petition said the tribunal member was removed from the office of the LHC judge in the light of a 2009 Supreme Court judgement against the appointments of judges made during the tenure of PCO chief justice Abdul Hameed Dogar.
The plea asked the court to restrain the respondent election tribunal from hearing the election petitions regarding NA-118, Lahore.
It further urged the court to set aside an amendment to the Election Act 2017, which allows the appointment of retired judges as election tribunals.
Hamza said she would continue to fight for the rights of her constituents.
