Communique calls for immediate strategy to be formulated to safeguard future generations
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Home Department on Wednesday sent a communique to the School Education Department calling for raising awareness about “Good Touch Bad Touch” among children across the province.
The communique stressed that awareness of 'Good Touch Bad Touch' should be included in children's curriculum, and educating children about personal safety was the need of the hour.
According to the communique from the Home Department, awareness about this vital aspect should be incorporated into the syllabus of primary classes. It said that with proper education and awareness, children could recognise inappropriate behaviour and report it.
“Parents and teachers should guide children on how to report inappropriate behaviour at home and outside,” it added.
The communique highlighted that children, who fall a victim to sexual abuse or exploitation in any form, could suffer from trauma for life while urging the state to protect children and bring perpetrators to justice.
It further emphasised that children should be taught not to fear those who resort to sexual exploitation but to expose them, adding that experts should be consulted to include the “Good Touch Bad Touch” module in the curriculum.
Furthermore, the letter called for an immediate strategy to be formulated to safeguard future generations.
