ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has commended the swift action of security forces during the Jaffar Express attack, stating that their timely clearance operation prevented a major catastrophe.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar lauded the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) for his detailed press conference. “The security forces played an excellent role in preventing what could have been another tragedy like the Army Public School attack,” he remarked.
Discussing PTI’s negotiations with the government, Gohar highlighted that the party formed a committee on December 4, holding its first meeting on December 23, followed by discussions on January 2 and January 16. “We presented two key demands to the government. When they requested written proposals, we provided them,” he explained.
He added that former prime minister Imran Khan had stated that the party would engage in talks if the government agreed to form a commission. “Speaker Ayaz Sadiq knows that this opportunity was not wasted by us, but by the government,” he asserted.
Gohar also raised concerns about Imran Khan’s isolation, stating that for six months, no one has been allowed to meet him, including his children. “This is a clear violation of court orders and human rights,” he stressed.
Regarding internal party dynamics, the PTI chairman emphasised that the party upheld democratic values. “We do not suppress voices; anyone in the party is free to express their opinion. However, once a decision is made, all members respect and abide by it,” he concluded.
