Lashkar-i-Islam founder Mufti Munir Shakir dies in Peshawar blast
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - In a bomb blast in the vicinity of Urmur Police Station on Saturday, Mufti Muneer Shakir succumbed to the fatal injuries he received.
Three other people were also injured in the incident who have been shifted to the local hospital. The police said the incident happened a few minutes before iftar.
After the blast, rescue teams, police officers and CTD officials reached the spot and ordered the preliminary investigation.
Mohammad Asim, a spokesman for the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), said: “Mufti Shakir was brought to LRH in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries,” adding that the hospital was in the process of handing over the body to his heirs.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Health Ehtesham Ali issued a statement after the incident, saying he was “deeply saddened”.
CM Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the explosion and sought a report from the police authorities. He directed authorities to carry out the “necessary steps” to arrest the suspects behind the blast.
