NUSHKI (Dunya News) – Five people, including three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, lost their lives when an FC convoy was attacked by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) on a highway in Balochistan’s Noshki district on Sunday.

According to security sources, terrorists carried out an explosion and a suicide attack on an FC convoy early in the morning on Dalbandin Road in Noshki, Balochistan. The cowardly suicide attack claimed the lives of three FC personnel and two civilians.

Sources stated that security forces launched an immediate and effective retaliatory operation, killing three terrorists in addition to the suicide bomber.

Security sources further reported that forces have cordoned off the area and are conducting a clearance operation. All escape routes for the terrorists have been blocked, and the operation will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.

According to security reports, the BLA has been a major force behind terrorist activities in Pakistan in 2024, with an increase in high-intensity attacks by outlawed groups in the province.

Earlier, Noshki Station House Officer (SHO) Zafarullah Sumalani reported that five FC personnel had been martyred and at least 12 others were injured in the blast. He stated that evidence suggested a suicide bomber had crashed an explosive-laden vehicle into the FC convoy.

The wounded were being transported to the FC Camp and Noshki Teaching Hospital, where an emergency had been declared. SHO Sumalani feared that the casualties might increase, as several injured individuals were in critical condition.

Condemnations pour in

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced the assault and extended condolences to the grieving families.

In a statement, he prayed for the departed souls and wished a swift recovery for the injured, directing authorities to ensure the best medical care.

“These cowardly acts cannot shake our determination to fight terrorism,” the prime minister stated.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the attack, referring to it as a "blast near a bus on the Noshki-Dalbandin Highway." Expressing his sorrow over the loss of lives, he sympathized with the bereaved families and prayed for the injured.

“Targeting innocent civilians is an act of extreme cruelty,” Naqvi remarked, adding that anti-state elements were conspiring to destabilize the country. Reaffirming the government’s stance, he emphasized that such cowardly acts would not weaken the nation’s resilience.
