LAHORE (Dunya News) – A delegation from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, on Tuesday visited the head office of Dunya News in Lahore, where the guests commended the organisation for its timely and professional news coverage.

The visiting delegation included Professor Dr Daniel Lydall, Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Leicester, and Dr Abdul Jabbar, Dean of Internationalisation. They were received by the management of the Dunya Media Group, which welcomed the guests and briefed them on the organisation’s operations.

During the visit, the delegation toured Dunya News’ state-of-the-art studios, newsroom and various departments. The guests observed the use of modern broadcast technology and digital tools across different sections of the organisation, expressing appreciation for the efficiency and speed with which news is produced and delivered.

Dr Abdul Jabbar said the visit to Dunya News had been a positive experience, noting that the integration of advanced technology across multiple departments was impressive and reflective of international media standards.

Alongside the media visit, a major development for students was also announced, as the University of Central Punjab and the University of Leicester formally launched an academic partnership. The collaboration is aimed at creating new opportunities for students seeking internationally recognised, high-quality education.

Under the agreement, students will complete the first two years of their degree programmes at the University of Central Punjab, followed by the final two years at the University of Leicester in the UK. The pathway will allow students to pursue Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Data Analytics, as well as Accounting and Finance. Final degrees and accreditation will be awarded by the University of Leicester.

Professor Dr Daniel Lydall described the visit as his first trip to Pakistan and said he was pleased to meet people in Lahore. He highlighted that the partnership between the University of Central Punjab and the University of Leicester would enable students to gain direct exposure to education in the UK, adding that both countries offer strong facilities and academic environments in the higher education sector.

Professor Lydall and Dr Abdul Jabbar stated that such international collaborations are designed to prepare young people to play effective roles on a global stage. They said partnerships of this nature provide students with international experience, academic confidence and broader perspectives, equipping them to lead and contribute in an increasingly interconnected world.
