PESHAWAR (Zeeshan Kakakhel) – Work has begun on a circular rail project aimed at connecting major cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to official documents, four major cities of the province will be linked with Peshawar through a rail network. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will implement the circular rail project in two phases.
Mardan, Nowshera, and Charsadda will be connected to Peshawar by train, while Pakistan Railways will provide assistance in the feasibility study. The project was approved in 2022, but due to financial and administrative issues, work could not begin on time.
Under the circular rail project, distances between cities will be reduced and traffic problems are expected to be resolved. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority will be responsible for monitoring the project and handling related matters.
According to official documents, railway authorities have agreed to assist with the feasibility study, which is expected to be completed within a few months.
