KARACHI (Dunya News) - Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab paid a late-night visit to fire-hit Gul Plaza to review the ongoing search and rescue operations, and directed authorities to accelerate the search for missing people after the commercial complex suffered a major incident.

Talking to media after the visit, Murtaza Wahab said that 70 percent of the building has been cleared, and work is underway to remove debris from the collapsed portion of the plaza.

He added that Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) engineers have inspected nearby buildings to check the fire safety alarms. He said that rescue teams remain active, and all departments are on high alert.

The mayor stated that more than 80 people remain missing. We will continue the search until every missing person is found, he added.

He further stated that work has been initiated to prevent such tragedies in the future.
