Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announces full upgrade of Rescue 1122, praises timely response to fire incidents, orders compensation for hotel fire victims, and stresses building safety measures.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that the provincial government will provide all necessary resources to fully upgrade the Rescue 1122 system to ensure better protection of citizens’ lives and property.
Addressing a meeting on fire incidents and building safety in the provincial capital, the chief minister praised the timely response of rescue services, calling their performance commendable. She expressed solidarity with the victims of the Gul Plaza fire and assured full support to those affected.
Maryam Nawaz said a recent fire in a building in Lahore was brought under control promptly, lauding the Rescue 1122 team for their effective response. She noted that the Safe City project played a significant role in facilitating emergency operations.

Referring to a fire incident at a Lahore hotel that claimed three lives, the chief minister directed the hotel owner to announce compensation of Rs10 million for each deceased victim.
She reiterated that the entire Rescue 1122 system would be upgraded, stressing that all firefighting equipment must be fully functional and modernised. She added that Rescue 1122 plays a vital role in safeguarding public safety.
The chief minister further directed the removal of encroachments to prevent future emergencies and emphasized the mandatory installation of fire alarm systems and availability of first aid facilities in buildings.
