KARACHI (Dunya News) – The judicial inquiry to probe Karachi’s Gul Plaza tragedy has been delayed due to non-issuance of gazette notification, Dunya News reported on Monday.

Despite the passage of five days, the gazette notification for the judicial commission has not been issued. The Registrar of the Sindh High Court has sent a letter to the Secretary of Interior. According to sources, the judicial commission cannot become operational before the issuance of the gazette notification.

On the other hand, four eyewitnesses have recorded their statements under Section 164 in the Gul Plaza case. The judicial magistrate has made the witnesses’ statements part of the case record. The eyewitnesses include three shopkeepers and a 13-year-old student Aryan.

Aryan told the court that he had gone to meet his friend Huzayfa at his father’s shop on the evening of the incident. He said Huzayfa was alone at the shop and was playing with matchsticks, which caused the fire.
