KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Monday said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) demands transfer of power to grassroots level but runs away from contesting Local Government (LG) elections.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Sharjeel Memon said that MQM-P has to work on the same salary.

He said that Muttahida claims powers should be transferred to the grassroots level, but when local government elections are held, it runs away. He added that MQM-P had also fled in the past after seeing defeat in local elections. He said Farooq Sattar’s statements should not be given much importance.

He further stated that the provincial cabinet has approved the procurement of wheat, and farmers are being given a support price of Rs 3,500 per 40 kilogram of wheat.

Sharjeel memon said that funds have been approved for development projects across Sindh, including Karachi. He said that all educational institutions will now hold regular in-person classes instead of online ones.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar said that during the operation in the Katcha area, 393 dacoits surrendered their weapons. He added that travel from Sukkur to Bahawalpur used to be difficult but has now been made safe, and that they are moving into the second phase of the operation in the Katcha area.
