ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level consultative meeting in Islamabad today (Thursday), where both political and military leadership reaffirmed their commitment to making the US-Iran talks a success.

According to sources, the meeting was attended by senior civilian and military officials, who held detailed discussions on the upcoming Islamabad negotiations and made key decisions to ensure their success.

Participants included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and the Foreign Secretary.

The participants reiterated their resolve to ensure the success of the Islamabad talks, noting that Pakistan’s positive and constructive role in the ceasefire is being widely appreciated at the international level. They emphasized that this opportunity for peace must not be missed.

Sources added that the participants paid tribute to Asim Munir for his key role in achieving the two-week ceasefire.

Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived at the Prime Minister’s House, where he was received by PM Shehbaz Sharif, who congratulated him on the ceasefire agreement and appreciated his efforts.

The prime minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing an active role in ensuring lasting peace in the region.

PM Shehbaz Sharif, along with senior military officials, also visited the venue of the talks to review security and logistical arrangements, accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and other security authorities.
