Summary Karachi Board chairman Ghulam Hussain Soho resigned after an inquiry found exam center irregularities at 170+ locations, with recommended suspensions and anti-corruption actions.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), has resigned from his position following irregularities in the matric exams.

Soho submitted his resignation to the Secretary of the Sindh Boards Department, which will now be forwarded to the controlling authority through the Boards Minister.

It comes after the inquiry committee investigating irregularities and mismanagement in the exams submitted its report.

The committee, formed under the direction of Sindh Boards Minister Ismail Rahu, forwarded its findings to the Ministry of Boards and Universities.

According to the report, the board administration altered examination centers at more than 170 locations.

Chairman Ghulam Hussain Soho, along with several agents including Manzoor Solangi, Imran Butt, Raja Fayyaz, and Miraj Ali, were found involved in the changes. Headmasters Muhammad Ali, Ayub Shani, and Amir Murtaza also reportedly assisted in altering exam centers through the board’s exam controller.

The report recommended immediate suspension of Chairman Ghulam Hussain Soho and Exam Controller Ahmed Khan Chhato, and suggested criminal proceedings against them through the Anti-Corruption department. It also called for action against other responsible board officials, including disciplinary measures against Secretary Naveed Gujar and prompt completion of proceedings against Deputy Controller Imran Butt.

Minister Ismail Rahu stated that no pressure or recommendations would be tolerated, and all decisions would be based on the committee’s findings.

Following the report, Ghulam Hussain Soho resigned from his position to avoid suspension and continue his service in the federal board, as suspension would have prevented his return to the parent department.
