Summary High-level meetings in Tehran to focus on US-Iran talks and regional stability

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir has departed for Iran on an official visit, according to security sources.

During the visit, he will hold meetings with senior Iranian officials.

Sources said the discussions are likely to focus on US-Iran talks and other matters of mutual interest, the regional situation, and areas of bilateral cooperation. Further details regarding the meetings and the visit are expected to be released later.

The visit is being viewed as an important development in the context of diplomatic and security ties between Pakistan and Iran.

Previously, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also visited Iran, where he held meetings with his Iranian counterpart and other senior leaders.

Naqvi has visited Iran twice within 24 hours, engaging in meetings with senior Iranian leadership.

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during a press briefing that hopes have emerged for a breakthrough in talks with Iran, adding that Pakistan’s mediation delegation is expected to visit Iran. Sharing that a Pakistani delegation is travelling to Iran for discussions on a ceasefire draft, Rubio noted that recent talks have shown positive signals and limited progress. The situation, he added, is expected to become clearer in the coming days.

This is a developing story.
