KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Wednesday demanded of the government to abolish petroleum levy and collection of taxes from the capitalists.

Senior leaders of MQM-P Dr Farooq Sattar, while addressing a press conference in Karachi after presenting party’s shadow budget, said that the petroleum levy should be abolished immediately. He said that taxes on the salaried middle class should be reduced, and relief should be provided to small farmers and agricultural workers.



Farooq Sattar said that the MQM-P had prepared a people-friendly shadow budget. He added that the purchasing power of people in Pakistan has declined significantly,

He said that Pakistan’s economic sovereignty is a matter of national survival, and the country’s economy is facing stagnation, adding that the conditions will improve only through local investment.

He further stated that Pakistan was able to gain international attention due to the diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
