KARACHI (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has emphasized the need for immediate and practical measures to protect marine resources and preserve the maritime environment, highlighting the growing challenges posed by pollution and climate change.

In a special message on World Oceans Day, the minister said oceans are not merely environmental systems but the foundation of life itself. He noted that large-scale mangrove plantation efforts are playing a vital role in environmental restoration and ecological sustainability.

He stated that the government is working to further strengthen waste management systems to combat marine pollution. According to the minister, marine pollution and climate change continue to pose serious threats to marine life and ocean ecosystems.

Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said developing countries face multiple challenges, including coastal risks and limited financial resources, which make environmental protection efforts more difficult. He stressed the need to accelerate measures aimed at conserving marine biodiversity.

The minister further said that young people are being actively involved in awareness campaigns focused on marine conservation and environmental protection. He added that oceans are essential for maintaining the planet's ecological balance and ensuring human survival.
