SC raises utility allowance for its staff by 100pc across all grades

Summary Supreme Court approves 100% increase in utility allowance for staff across all grades, effective July 2026, with new rates ranging up to Rs60,000

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court has approved a 100 percent increase in the utility allowance of its employees, with the Chief Justice of Pakistan giving formal approval to the revised package, according to an official notification.

The notification stated that the increase in utility allowance will be implemented from July 1, 2026.

Under the revised structure, the utility allowance for employees in Grade 1 to 6 has been increased from 6,000 rupees to 12,000 rupees. For Grade 7 to 10, the allowance has been raised from 8,000 rupees to 16,000 rupees, while employees in Grade 11 to 15 will now receive 20,000 rupees instead of 10,000 rupees.

Punjab employees express mixed reaction to budget

For Grade 16 officers, the allowance has been increased from 12,000 rupees to 24,000 rupees. Grade 17 officers will now receive 30,000 rupees instead of 15,000 rupees, while Grade 18 officers’ allowance has been raised from 18,000 rupees to 36,000 rupees.

The notification further stated that Grade 19 officers will receive 42,000 rupees instead of 21,000 rupees, while Grade 20 officers’ allowance has been increased from 24,000 rupees to 48,000 rupees.

For Grade 21 and above, the utility allowance has been raised from 30,000 rupees to 60,000 rupees.

According to the notification, the utility allowance includes electricity and gas expenses, and the additional financial burden will be met from the approved budget for the fiscal year 2026–27.
