Summary A Lahore court confirmed Aroob Jatoi's pre-arrest bail in the gambling apps promotion case, citing lack of evidence.
(Web Desk) - A sessions court in Lahore has confirmed the interim pre-arrest bail of Aroob Jatoi, wife of YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, in a case related to the alleged promotion of a gambling application.
Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Siddiqui announced the decision on Jatoi's bail application after hearing arguments from both sides.
The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which alleges that Aroob Jatoi and other social media influencers promoted illegal online gambling platforms.
According to the court's two-page written order, Jatoi's pre-arrest bail has been confirmed against surety bonds worth Rs100,000.
The written verdict noted that Aroob Jatoi was not initially named in the FIR and was implicated only after the forensic report of co-accused Saad ur Rehman was received. The court observed that the NCCIA failed to present any concrete evidence establishing Jatoi's specific role in the alleged offence and had not conducted a forensic examination of her mobile phone.
The court further stated that co-accused Saad ur Rehman had already been granted bail by the Lahore High Court, while Jatoi's alleged role appeared to be of an even lesser nature. It also observed that the NCCIA could not produce any video showing Jatoi promoting gambling applications, nor had any citizen accused her of fraud or of encouraging people to participate in online gambling.
The case is part of the NCCIA's wider crackdown on the digital promotion of unlicensed betting applications. Earlier, Ducky Bhai, Aroob Jatoi and other co-accused were indicted in the case, while the court had also allowed Jatoi's mobile phone to undergo forensic examination as part of the investigation.
