LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that modern, safe and dignified transport facilities are being provided to the public and that green buses will be extended to all tehsils of Punjab.

She inaugurated the Green Bus Service in six districts of the province in a formal ceremony.

She said that the service will be expanded in phases to all tehsils, and in the next phase buses will also operate at tehsil level. She added that the service is especially beneficial for women.

The Chief Minister said the green buses are modern, air-conditioned and environment-friendly, while the fare has been set at only 20 rupees.

She announced that 1,100 buses will be brought onto roads during the current year, while a total of 5,000 buses will be included within the next three years.

She further said that the transport system in Punjab is being put on modern lines and providing quality travel facilities to citizens remains the government’s top priority.

At the end of her address, she appreciated the performance of the Transport Department, the Provincial Transport Minister, the Secretary Transport and the entire department, saying they have advanced the project with hard work and responsibility.

She also lauded the officials concerned and expressed hope that they will continue the public service mission with the same dedication in future.
