KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh government has decided to introduce measures aimed at curbing misleading propaganda and misinformation on social media, with plans to strengthen monitoring and enforcement against unlawful online activities.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Sindh Information Department chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. The meeting was attended by Information Secretary Kashif Gulzar Shaikh, Director General Information Moazzam Pirzada, directors, and other officials.
Participants discussed strategies to counter misinformation campaigns, misleading content, and online activities considered harmful to national interests.
Speaking at the meeting, Sharjeel Inam Memon said certain elements were attempting to spread misleading information on social media platforms against the country and national interests, adding that action against those violating the law was necessary.
He said the Sindh government was seeking to establish a provincial special cybercrime cell to monitor the spread of misleading information and ensure accountability in accordance with the law.
