Summary Monsoon rains have increased water flows in Punjab rivers, with low-level flooding reported in parts of the Indus and Chenab while authorities continue monitoring the situation.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Monsoon rains have led to a rise in water levels across several rivers in Punjab, with authorities monitoring flood conditions at multiple locations.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab said low-level flooding has been reported in parts of the Indus and Chenab rivers. Water flow at Tarbela on the Indus River has reached 336,000 cusecs, while flows at Chashma have been recorded at 302,000 cusecs.
On the Chenab River, low flood conditions are present at Marala and Qadirabad. Officials reported water flows of 195,000 cusecs at Marala, 262,000 cusecs at Khanki, and 245,000 cusecs at Qadirabad.
The PDMA said water levels in the Sutlej and Jhelum rivers remain normal, while the Ravi River continues to record a flow of around 73,000 cusecs at Balloki.
Officials also reported normal flows at several points along the Ravi River, including Jassar, Shahdara, and Head Sidhhnai.
Meanwhile, medium-level flooding has been observed at the Basantar stream in Narowal, while low-level flooding has been reported at Nallah Bhimber in Gujrat and Nallah Palkhu in Wazirabad.
The PDMA director general said increased river flows were caused by rainfall in upper areas.
